Report SPAM

Linkline does it's best to filter SPAM e-mail, and we use mailabuse.org as well to help us complete this task. However, NOT all SPAM can be stopped unfortunately. In the case that you do receive any SPAM mail, you can try using their unsubscribe option to unsubscribe from that list. If that e-mail is not valid, or the option is not available, then you can try to e-mail the postmasters of the machines they came from.

Many unsolicited commercial emails (UCE) generated are sent with false return addresses and manipulated headers. When sending information about UCE's, it is best to forward the UCE without additional comments.

Remember to include the FULL header and FULL text of the message. The header information is required to determine the message origin. If your software displays a condensed header, please check the HELP files for assistance in viewing the full header.

You can find more information at http://www.spamcop.net. We don't officially endorse them, but the site has a good amount of useful information about SPAM, and how to report it properly.

Some suggestions to reduce the amount of spam you receive:

DO:

  • Remove yourself from any unprotected member directory.
  • Open another e-mail account that you can use as an address for newsgroup and list serve publications or for posting on bulletin boards.

DO NOT:

  • Post to an online service or any Internet bulletin board.
  • Post in a Usenet newsgroup or mailing list.
  • Spend time in chat rooms or an online service that displays your address.
  • Include yourself in an unprotected member directory of an online service.
  • Reply to unsolicited e-mail messages with a "remove"
request because this only validates to the sender that
    your address is current.

You can keep up to date with the fight against spam at:
http://www.cauce.org

You may report additional SPAM or other abuse cases to us by e-mailing: .

Remember to include the FULL header and FULL text of the message. The header information is required to determine the message origin. If your software displays a condensed header, please check the HELP files for assistance in viewing the full header.
